Over the past couple of years, Vampire Weekend have come from nowhere to being one of the most sought-after bands in the world. Their debut self-titled album, released in 2008, had a massive cult following and spawned the modern classic A-Punk - which has since become a favourite of TV and movie soundtracks - as well as introducing the world to their unique blend of African rhythms and early 80s ska/punk.

Hot on the heels of their much-anticipated second album Contra, which topped the US Billboard chart following its release in January, the four-piece - consisting of Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, Rostam Batmanglij and Chris Tomson - returned to the UK for a string of dates. These culminated in two sold-out nights at London's Brixton Academy in February.

An Energetic Show

Like many up and coming groups making their mark on the world of music, Vampire Weekend seem to attract a mixed crowd. Unlike many concerts which these days seem to be populated by a young, teenage audience, this quartet also appeal to the older music fan, and the thirty and fortysomething crowd were out in full force at Brixton.
